NW Mo. sheriff identifies homicide victim

PLATTE CITY, Mo. (AP) - The Platte County Sheriff's Department has released the name of a 22-year-old woman whose body was found last week in a conservation area in northwest Missouri.

The sheriff's department said a fisherman found the body of Alissa Faye Shippert of Platte City in the Platte Falls Conservation Area.

She was identified through lab tests. Authorities said Shippert may have been fishing in the area between May 30 and June 1.

The St. Joseph News-Press reports that authorities have not said how she died, but said they believe she was the victim of a homicide. The Missouri State Highway Patrol dive team has been searching the area for clues.
