Ed funding cuts impact Lincoln, Linn Tech
Saturday, June 11, 2011
Lincoln University and Linn State Technical College will be getting less state money than they thought was coming after lawmakers passed the state’s budget plan last month.
Gov. Jay Nixon on Friday withheld more than $172 million from the more than $23 billion budget plan lawmakers approved, including $246,874 from LU and $65,359 from Linn State Tech.
Lincoln now is set to receive $17,438,672 — down more than $1.3 million from what lawmakers budgeted last year — and Linn State will get $4,616,807, a $347,502 cut from last year’s approved budget.
Neither school’s president was available for comment Friday.
