Henke, C. Fick selected Tuesday in MLB Draft

A pair of former area high school standouts were selected Tuesday in the Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft.

Travis Henke was selected in the 22nd round by the Washington Nationals, while Cody Fick was picked in the 23rd round by the Philadelphia Phillies.

Henke (Blair Oaks High School), the 667th overall selection, recently wrapped up his senior season at Arkansas-Little Rock. The right-hander was 1-5 in 18 games for the Trojans, 14 of which were starts. He had a 5.20 ERA in a team-high 90 innings, walking 28 and totaling 61 strikeouts. Henke was 3-3 with a 6.30 ERA as a junior.

"I've been preparing for this and dreaming about it since high school. It's definitely a lifetime accomplishment to have this dream finally come true," Henke said ....
