SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — It’s been said a million times, but never has it been more true: The toughest out to get is the final one.
That was the case Wednesday for St. Elizabeth, as the Hornets were one out from playing for a state title, only to eventually lose. The La Plata Bulldogs pushed across two runs in the top of the seventh with two outs and emerged with a 9-8 win in a Class 1 semifinal contest at Meador Park.
