Franks captures first place

BOLIVAR - Kory Franks of Jefferson City took first place in his age group at the Missouri Junior Amateur golf championship that concluded Friday at the Silo Ridge Country Club in Bolivar.

Franks (boys 14-15) shot a 74 in the first round and a 76 in the second round to finish at 6-over par. His second round included a pair of birdies on the front nine.

He finished eighth out of all age groups as he had three birdies and 25 pars in the two rounds.

Ryan Rost of Linn placed 63rd overall and tied for 53rd in the boys 16-18 group. He shot an 89 in the first round before bouncing back with a 74 in the second.

Matthew Hart of Russellville finished with rounds of 79 and 80 to finish tied for 46th overall.

Austin Vaughn of Jefferson City finished 116th overall and Lohman's Brennen Horn finished in 120th place.
