For the Barker-Peabody family from Linn, Jefferson City's Salute to America is a tradition.

Maggie, the mom, always gets a dish served up from the Greek food vendor on High Street. Teens Andrew and Courtney drink their token root beers from glass bottles. And baby Maggie will pick up her third-annual tie-dyed T-shirt.

Annie Hockensmith, Columbia, came out Saturday with her grandchildren from Calwood to take in the carnival atmosphere.
