Joe Crede is back in baseball.
Crede, the former Fatima Comet who missed last season because of back surgery, recently signed with a minor-league contract with the Colorado Rockies. The deal also includes an invitation to the Rockies' major-league spring training camp.
Crede, who will turn 33 in April, played for the Minnesota Twins in 2009. He hit .224 with 15 home runs and 48 RBI in 90 games.
The third baseman also played for the White Sox from 2000-08 and was part of their 2005 World Series championship team.
Crede is a career .254 hitter with 140 home runs and 470 RBI in 888 games.
