Loaded handgun found at Columbia high school

COLUMBIA, Mo. (AP) - Two students have been taken into custody at an alternative high school in Columbia after the staff found a loaded handgun.

Columbia police say it doesn't appear that anyone was directly threatened with the weapon Tuesday morning.

Administrators at Douglass High School called police around 10:17 a.m. after a staff member reported a student acting suspiciously. Police said in a news release that administrators found the gun in a student's possession and secured it.
