Rash of accidents stalls morning rush

Several non-injury accidents tied up traffic on eastbound U.S. 54 during the Monday morning rush hour.

According to police reports, inattention was listed as the cause.

The first accident occurred at about 7:20 a.m. in the 1200 block of U.S. 54 under Madison Street. A single vehicle lost control and struck the center concrete barrier twice before coming to rest westbound in the eastbound lanes.
