Council OKs two conference center bills

It wasn't quite a speed record, but the Jefferson City Council still did not waste much time at its meeting Tuesday night.

With a candidate forum looming later in the evening in which several council members were scheduled to participate, the council dispensed with the pleasantries to take on a very thin agenda.

The council voted to approve three bills into law Tuesday night. The first two related specifically to the continuing effort to build a conference center, which would be funded by a lodging tax proposal on the Feb. 8 ballot.
