Nixons donate $1,868 from Prayer Breakfast collection to Samaritan Center
Tuesday, January 18, 2011
A collection at the end of the Jan. 5 Governor’s Prayer Breakfast means Jefferson City’s Samaritan Center can buy 1,843 pounds of hamburger, said Marylyn DeFeo, the Samaritan Center’s volunteer director.
“And that means 1,843 families will have a spaghetti dinner, with hamburger, pasta and sauce that we give them in their basket,” she told reporters Monday.
Gov. Jay Nixon and his wife, Georganne, gave DeFeo $1,868 collected from many of nearly 800 people as they left the prayer breakfast almost two weeks ago.
