DURHAM, N.C. (AP) - Nolan Smith scored a career-high 33 points to help No. 1 Duke beat Alabama-Birmingham 85-64 on Wednesday night.
Kyle Singler added 15 points and scored his 2,000th career point during a game-opening 26-4 run that took the drama out of this one early. The Blue Devils (14-0) never let the Blazers (10-3) closer than 14 points the rest of the way.
Duke has won 24 straight games dating back to last season's run to the Atlantic Coast Conference and NCAA tournament championships, and 32 of 33 overall.
UAB's Jamarr Sanders hit a 3-pointer on the game's first possession only to see the Blue Devils answer with 16 straight points to blow the game open.
Duke has won all but two games by double-digit margins as it heads into the heart of its ACC schedule. The Blue Devils face Maryland at Cameron Indoor Stadium on Sunday, and still have nonconference games at St. John's and at home against Temple.
No. 3 Kansas 99, UMKC 52
LAWRENCE, Kan. (AP) - Josh Selby had 16 points to lead six Kansas players in double figures and the Jayhawks defeated UMKC.
Kansas (14-0) scored the game's first 15 points and extended the nation's longest homecourt winning streak to 68 games.
Tyshawn Taylor added 15 points for Kansas. Travis Releford and Elijah Johnson had 13 each for the Jayhawks.
Jay Couisnard and Bakari Lewis each scored 16 points for UMKC (8-7).
The Jayhawks stifled the Roos' offense. Through 14 minutes, UMKC had more turnovers (12) than points (10) and trailed by 27.
Kansas pushed the lead to as many as 31 in the half and led 52-24 at halftime.
No. 6 San Diego St. 66, TCU 53
FORT WORTH, Texas (AP) - Malcolm Thomas had 18 points and 10 rebounds, Kawhi Leonard added 14 points and 11 rebounds and the duo also keyed a game-turning run after halftime and San Diego State stretched its season-opening winning streak to 16 in a row.
In their Mountain West opener, the undefeated Aztecs did pretty much what the same thing they have been doing to non-conference opponents. They put the game out of reach with a strong second half, including yet another extended scoring run.
Leonard had six points and Thomas five in a 13-0 run early in the second half that pushed the Aztecs to a 49-31 lead over TCU (9-7).
San Diego State's 16-game winning streak is the second-longest in the country, trailing only the 24 wins in a row by defending national champion Duke.
No. 9 Missouri 98, North Alabama 58
COLUMBIA, Mo. (AP) - Kim English scored a season-high 20 points in the first half alone to lead seven players in double figures and the Tigers romped over Division II North Alabama.
The junior guard connected on six of seven 3-pointers in the first half for Missouri (14-1), off to its best start in 21 years. Justin Safford and Laurence Bowers added 16 points each for the Tigers.
Beaumont Beasley scored 13 points for North Alabama (6-9).
No. 11 Purdue 83, Penn St. 68
STATE COLLEGE, Pa. (AP) - JaJuan Johnson had 15 points and 15 rebounds, and the Boilermakers' defense clamped down on Big Ten-leading scorer Talor Battle in a win over the Nittany Lions.
Ryne Smith added 20 points before fouling out to help the Boilermakers (14-1, 3-0) overcome an off night for star guard E'Twaun Moore (four points) and win their ninth straight.
Battle finished with 18 points, but shot just 6 of 22 from the field and was 2 of 9 from the 3-point arc. The Nittany Lions (8-6, 1-2), starting a stretch of five straight against ranked foes, lost its 10th straight to a Top 25 team.

LAS VEGAS (AP) - Jimmer Fredette scored 39 points to lead the Cougars over the Rebels in the Mountain West Conference opener.
He hit seven 3-pointers for the Cougars (15-1, 1-0).
Jackson Emery had 22 points, while Brandon Davies added 15 points and 10 rebounds for the Cougars, who led 38-35 at halftime.
Anthony Marshall led the Rebels (12-3, 0-1) with a career-high 26 points. Tre'Von Willis added 14 points and seven rebounds while Brice Massamba and Oscar Bellfield each had 10 points for UNLV, which had two 10-point first-half leads.
No. 19 Central Florida 65, Marshall 58
ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) - Marcus Jordan had 26 points and five assists and Central Florida remained unbeaten.
Jordan, son of NBA star Michael Jordan, had 18 points in second half when UCF used a 10-0 run to take control of the game.
Keith Clanton added 14 points and Isaac Sosa 13 for the Knights (14-0, 1-0 in Conference USA).
Shaquille Johnson led Marshall with 15 points. Tirrell Baines added 14 for the Thundering Herd (10-4, 0-1.)
Clanton started and finished the 10-0 run with layups. Jordan also had a 3-point play and Sosa made a 3-pointer and UCF erased a four-point deficit and took a 52-46 lead with 5:01 left.
The Knights led by as many as eight, but didn't clinch the win until Clanton's two free throws with 15 seconds left.
Tennessee 104, No. 21 Memphis 84
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - Tobias Harris scored 17 points and grabbed 15 rebounds and the Volunteers got their third win over a ranked opponent this season with a rout of the Tigers.
Tennessee (10-4) came out hot, hitting three early 3-pointers. Trae Golden passed to Scotty Hopson for an alley-oop dunk that got the crowd loud and launched a 14-2 run that gave the Vols a 28-12 lead with 10:41 in the first half.
The Vols grabbed nine more rebounds than the Tigers in the first half by dominating the offensive boards and pushed their lead to 23 points on an underhanded layup by Jeronne Maymon with 4:45 before halftime.
Memphis (11-3) went on a 12-0 run that stretched from the end of the first half to the beginning of the second to cut Tennessee's lead to 10, but it was as close as the Tigers would get.
Will Coleman led Memphis with 17 points.
