Several new faces sat in on the Missouri State Penitentiary (MSP) Redevelopment Commission's regular meeting this week.
After holding their organizational meeting last week, the MSP action team from the Jefferson City Area Chamber of Commerce decided to listen in on the state's commission meeting to get a better understanding of what already is in the works, said member Dave Wallace.
The chamber team, organized through its recent Transformation roll-out, also toured the prison site this week and will hold a second meeting next week.
"It's one of a few unique historic attractions here," Wallace said of the MSP.
After listening to the commission Wednesday, Wallace said it appears that the chamber team and the state commission have a similar focus - the overall redevelopment of the site and preserving a historic asset.
Hopefully, the chamber team will be an enhancement to their efforts, Wallace said.
