Transportation suggestions on JC school board agenda

Superintendent Brian Mitchell says he'll talk with the Jefferson City Board of Education on Monday evening about Gov. Jay Nixon's recent decision to release another $10 million statewide to help with public schools' transportation costs.

"I also will share my recommendations related to transportation," after his special transportation committee delivers their report on ways to use school buses more efficiently, Mitchell said.

The preliminary plan included some changes for schools' starting and ending times each day. Information about the committee's preliminary suggestions, with an estimated $240,000 savings, is posted on the district's website.
