Execs at 2 Missouri real estate companies indicted

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (AP) - Four executives at two Springfield real estate companies and a broker have been indicted on charges including securities fraud and unlawful merchandising practices.

Attorney General Chris Koster said in a news release Wednesday that the indictments returned by a Greene County grand jury stem from an investigation his office conducted into Greenleaf Companies and The Real Estate Company.

Employees are accused of omitting key facts and making misrepresentations when soliciting investors to purchase homes and in selling securities related to the purchase of those homes.

The release says that when the companies subsequently sought to sell those homes to consumers, consumers were not told critical information regarding the ownership and financing of the homes.

The next court appearance for each of the defendants will be pre-trial conferences scheduled for May.
