BATON ROUGE, La. - The Jefferson City Jays went 2-1 on Friday and finished second in the Deep South Bayou Duals at Louisiana State University.
"We wrestled so hard, I'm so proud of the team," Jays coach Phil Cagle said. "We wrestled a lot of really good matches throughout the tournament."
The Jays, who advanced to the championship round by going 5-0 on Thursday, opened Friday with a 36-34 win over Duncan, Okla. (ranked No. 2 in Class 5A). Jefferson City then beat Baton Rouge Catholic, the No. 1 team in Louisiana, 32-26, to advance to the title round.
