Jays take second at LSU Duals, Johnson honored

BATON ROUGE, La. - The Jefferson City Jays went 2-1 on Friday and finished second in the Deep South Bayou Duals at Louisiana State University.

"We wrestled so hard, I'm so proud of the team," Jays coach Phil Cagle said. "We wrestled a lot of really good matches throughout the tournament."

The Jays, who advanced to the championship round by going 5-0 on Thursday, opened Friday with a 36-34 win over Duncan, Okla. (ranked No. 2 in Class 5A). Jefferson City then beat Baton Rouge Catholic, the No. 1 team in Louisiana, 32-26, to advance to the title round.
