Cole County shooting victim still in serious condition

Editor's Note: In an article published on April 8, 2012, the News Tribune reported that the charge in this case originally reported in the following article was dismissed by the prosecutor.

A Lohman man remained in serious condition Monday night at the University of Missouri Hospital in Columbia, after being wounded during a shooting early Saturday morning.

The victim, identified only as "A.T." in a charge filed Saturday against another man, was flown to the Columbia hospital by helicopter and underwent an emergency surgery that, reportedly, included the removal of a damaged kidney.

Vincent M. Trapani, 21, 3207 Spring Ridge Road, was charged Saturday with second-degree domestic assault after Cole County deputies were called to the home about 1 a.m. for what was reported as an accidental shooting.

His bond was set at $25,000.

The domestic assault charge was based on Trapani and the victim being "family or household members in that they were related by blood," the charge said.
