Utility: Water project to close street

Beginning Monday, West Main Street will be closed between Fulkerson and Brooks streets for the week as Missouri American Water Company completes its new water intake pipeline.

This work, which is expected to continue through Friday, will complete an $11 million project that was started in September 2010 to increase the capacity of the company’s Jefferson City facility.

The project was designed to help avoid the water-usage restrictions customers faced in 2005 and 2006.
