Baby removed from home and 2 arrested in heroin bust
Tuesday, December 6, 2011
Jefferson City police said Tuesday a one-week-old baby was turned over to the state’s Family Services division.
And two adults were arrested after the SWAT Team served a narcotics search warrant at a home in the 1400 block of East Miller Street, around 2 p.m. Tuesday.
“A substantial amount of heroin was found during the search warrant, which was the result of a MUSTANG Task Force case investigation,” Capt. Doug Shoemaker said in a news release.
A man, 29, was arrested for felonious distribution of a controlled substance and endangering the welfare of a child.
A woman, 21, was arrested for possession with the intent to distribute a drug and endangering the welfare of a child.
Police said another man who also was at the home when the search warrant was served was released, with no charges pending at this time.
They said no one was injured, and no other information was released.

Dang those drug laws. Probably taken away this kids parents. Shouldn't split up a family over the failed drug war.

Really? Are you sure about that?

From statistics I've read, most categories of drug use have increased since 2002. The only statistics that are down are postive results from workplace drug testing, and that's because people are being tested across the board now, instead of only testing suspected users, or employees involved in workplace accitents.

It's really a simple matter. The parents are in jail so the kid goes into protective care. Their fitness as parents will be determined later.

I agree, but the court has to agree as well.

We don't have drugs in this sleepy little town. Next crazy thing you'll hear is that we have gangs.
Jeff City is a nice little town without crime. Oh, and Go Jays!

I honestly believe that if people were educated about drugs like this, people wouldn't abuse the drug. As we sit here, many just say its bad, evil, people who use it are scum, when we could be educating our children about the dangers, the history of the drug, the effects it has on a community, but as long as its forbidden to even speak about in an educated setting, it will be taboo to our children, and many will try it to spite us parents.

No uproar over this like the one about Cirillas and the current one about the exposed hip during Living Windows. JC folks seem to have misplaced priorities.
