Jays can’t complete comeback in loss to Kirkwood

COLUMBIA, Mo. — Kirkwood left the door wide open. Jefferson City just couldn’t come in.
Despite turning the ball over 22 times, the Jays had a shot to tie the game at the end of regulation, mainly because Kirkwood went 4-of-16 from the free-throw line.
Claude Ruboneka and Jack Young couldn’t get 3-point attempts to fall in the final seven seconds and Kirkwood defeated Jefferson City 55-52 on Saturday afternoon in the Norm Stewart Classic at Columbia College.
