Missouri parks to allow dogs in some cabins

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (AP) — Missouri officials plan to start allowing people to keep their dogs with them while staying at some cabins in state parks.

Park officials say starting next year, dogs would be allowed in about 30 percent of outpost cabins, camper cabins, yurts and other units operated by the state. The program will be phased in next year for facilities operated by concessionaries and fully implemented by 2013.

Pets currently are barred from state park buildings and lodging units.

Visitors will be limited to two dogs per cabin and will be required to pay a $15 minimum fee. Additional fees will be assessed if extra cleaning is necessary.

This is so great! So many of us travel/vacation with pets. I think this will help the parks financially--we won't all have to go to private facilities to sleep with our dogs :-)

Yes, but why? Dogs are not a bedbug vector. Fleas, on the other hand, yow! I don't care, this is very good news!

No experience? That never stopped you before! Most folks,,including me, only take my dog because she is well behaved. There are more and more business' that allow dogs for a deposit.

Then why would you even make that comment, if you "have no experience in this area"???? I think you comment just to rile people up or make them paranoid about things--or maybe just to bring attention to yourself. Why not give us all a break and only comment on things you do have experience with. Yes, you are entitled to opinions, but that statement was not of the opinion variety.

Keep your filthy habits to yourself, please.

Better a filthy habit than a filthy mind. Very few dogs are just plain nasty. People, on the other hand, are frequently nasty for no apparent reason.
