Missouri parks to allow dogs in some cabins

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (AP) - Missouri officials plan to start allowing people to keep their dogs with them while staying at some cabins in state parks.

Park officials say starting next year, dogs would be allowed in about 30 percent of outpost cabins, camper cabins, yurts and other units operated by the state. The program will be phased in next year for facilities operated by concessionaries and fully implemented by 2013.

Pets currently are barred from state park buildings and lodging units.

Visitors will be limited to two dogs per cabin and will be required to pay a $15 minimum fee. Additional fees will be assessed if extra cleaning is necessary.
