French IT firm to open office in Missouri

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (AP) - A French information-technology company could receive more than $1.3 million in state incentives to open an office in suburban Kansas City.

Gov. Jay Nixon announced Wednesday that Paris-based Capgemini is opening a Lee's Summit office that could employ up to 125 people within five years. The office will offer information technology services to local, state and federal agencies.

Most of the state incentives will come from the Quality Jobs Program, which provides tax breaks to companies that create jobs with certain wages and health care benefits.

Nixon announced the job expansion as state Economic Development Director David Kerr was testifying before a legislative committee in Jefferson City about the agency's role in a failed project in Moberly. Kerr said one failure should not deter the state from pursuing other businesses.
