JC woman presumed drowned

Group wading at Noren Access when woman gets swept under

A day-long search proved unsuccessful, and the Highway Patrol's Water Division reported a Jefferson City woman was presumed to have drowned early Friday in the Missouri River.

Jefferson City Police were called at 1:55 a.m. Friday and told a woman, identified as Sara J. Giboney, 31, Jefferson City, had waded into the river at the Carl Noren Access and had been swept underwater.

The patrol reported Giboney was part of a group of people wading in the still-flooded water on the Callaway County side of the river.
