Urban: People should choose to use their words for good

The more than 100 people who attended Monday night’s CharacterPlus rally went home from the Miller Performing Arts Center with an assignment: Tell the three living people you most appreciate, “tonight or tomorrow morning,” that you do appreciate them — and why.

Hal Urban, a former teacher and character education expert, delivered the assignment at the end of a 72-minute presentation on the power of words.

I'm glad to see this program in the schools. I know that teachers had a powerful part to play in my life. I did not grow up in the best environment but education and seeing examples of the proper behavior probably kept me in shcool.
