Local resident is tops with tops

Chris Neff, who is also a world champion in yo-yo, gives some technique pointers to Josh Hickman, 14. Neff became interested in tops when he met the world champion at the world championships for yo-yo in 2009.

A fun hobby turned into a coveted title for local resident Chris Neff, the new world spintop champion.

In two divisions featuring five contenders at the Orlando, Fla., competition, Neff accumulated the most points overall and spun his way to victory.

After purchasing his first yo-yo in Jefferson City in 1992, Neff became one of the top competitors and toured as a Duncan yo-yo representative.
