ROSEMONT, Ill. (AP) - Lindsay Whalen scored 16 points led Minnesota's balanced scoring effort and the Lynx held off the Chicago Sky 79-76 Friday night.

Seimone Augustus had 14 points, Maya Moore scored 13 and Candice Wiggins 12 for Minnesota (17-5), which won for the 10th time in 11 games and 12th in 14.

Sylvia Fowles scored 28 points to lead the Sky (10-14), who have lost four of their last five. Tamera Young added 16 points.

The Sky scored six consecutive points in a 34-second span - on two free throws and a layup by Fowles and a layup by Shay Murphy - to pull to 78-76 with 39 seconds to go, but Murphy missed a layup with 3 seconds to go.

Taj McWilliams-Franklin made 1 of 2 from the line, and Tamera Young missed desperation 3-pointer at the buzzer.

Mystics 64, Liberty 63

WASHINGTON (AP) - Crystal Langhorne scored 18 points and Matee Ajavon added 13 points as Washington rallied from a nine-point, fourth-quarter deficit to beat New York for the second time in seven days.

DeMya Walker scored 10 points for the Mystics (5-15), who took the lead for good with the final points of the game with 1:02 remaining on a pair of free throws by Ajavon.

Leilani Mitchell scored a season-high 18 points and Cappie Pondexter had 13 for the Liberty (13-10).

Marissa Coleman's runner to extend the lead with 18.8 seconds remaining missed, but the Mystics grabbed the offensive rebound only to see Kelly Miller miss two free throws with 4.4 seconds left.

The Liberty's inbound pass went down low to Plenette Pierson who managed to quickly get baseline, but her left-handed layup fell short off the rim.
