Thieves hit 3 dozen cars

Jefferson City authorities are urging residents to be more vigilant in locking up vehicles after four juveniles and one adult were arrested early Thursday morning in connection with three dozen thefts from motor vehicles overnight.

According to police reports, all of the vehicles -with the exception of one - were left unlocked by their owners. The locations of the thefts include the southeast part of Jefferson City on Bald Hill Road, Deer Trail, Copperstone Court and Brady Drive.

Charges of felonious receiving stolen property and misdemeanor receiving stolen property are being sought on the four juveniles. One juvenile also faces an additional charge of property damage; another faces a charge of possession of paraphernalia.

The adult was released, and no charges were submitted.
