Local couple earns Patriots Day Award

In an effort to honor soldiers, Lorraine Adkins brought the community together for a project that touched people of every background, sector and ability.

Wreaths for Heroes was born after Adkins and her husband, Pete, attended a Wreaths Across America event at the National Cemetery on McCarty Street in 2009, and there was little community support.
