The Mike Jones era is officially under way, as the Lincoln football team just completed its first weekend of spring workouts under its new leader.

The Blue Tigers held the first of their 13 allowed practices Friday, then added one each on Saturday and Sunday to get things really moving.

Jones, the former Missouri Tiger and St. Louis Ram who took over as head coach Feb. 7, said the players were ready to get on the practice field.

"The young men have been working hard," he said. "We went through an offseason program for six weeks of running, lifting, things like that."

The Blue Tigers have about 40 players taking part in the workouts, which is enough to get some things done, but still presents a challenge.
