Jefferson City festival district approved — for now
Tuesday, April 5, 2011
Residents of Jefferson City will soon be able to raise a glass to the City Council in a new way, so long as it is in the right glass.
During the last regular meeting of the current council, members voted 9-1 to approve the long-discussed festival district on a temporary basis through the end of June.
The ordinance would suspend open container ordinance to allow individuals who participate in events with a district permit to consume alcoholic beverages on city streets.

Woo-Hoo! Let's get drunk! Drown our sorrows about the economy in some alcohol! Can we smoke in the festival district too?

Yes, the festival district events will be outdoors so you can smoke.

What about pot? Columbia allows pot smoking at its festivals. Can we smoke pot in Jefferson City now?

Where did you get that idea?

Will the city council require the tattoo parlors be closed during festivals? Can't have the locals seeing such businesses flourish in town, much less downtown.

I'm local and I hope all businesses are successful.
