Three-car Morgan County crash sends 8 to hospitals

Eight people were injured in a three-car accident at 7:29 p.m. Monday on Missouri 52, east of Barnett, in Morgan County.
According to the Missouri Highway Patrol report, a 1997 Dodge, driven eastbound by Joshua L. Bell, Iberia, was struck by a 2004 Mazda, driven westbound by Michael L. Hardy, 26, Versailles, when the Hardy vehicle crossed the centerline. The Bell vehicle traveled off the road and overturned. The Hardy vehicle continued going west in the eastbound lane and was struck by a 2005 Chevrolet, driven eastbound by Venantas Supronas, 38, Jefferson City, which went off the road and overturned.
Hardy and Bell and two passengers in the Supronas vehicle, Mikhail V. Arkhipov, 25, and Nerijus Simutis, 27, both of Lake Ozark, were taken were taken to Lake Regional Hospital.
One passenger in the Bell vehicle, Andrew F. Bell, 1, Iberia, and Supronas were flown to the University of Missouri-Columbia. Two other passengers in the Bell vehicle, Janie M. Bell, 20, and Joshua A. Bell, (no age given), both of Iberia, were taken to Lake Regional Hospital.
Hardy and Simutis were not wearing seat belts. It is not known if Arkhipov or Supronas were wearing seat belts. Everyone else was wearing a seat belt.
Three Chamois residents were injured in a one-car accident at 7:05 p.m. Monday on Missouri 100 north of Route C in Osage County.
The patrol reported a 1993 Chevrolet driven northbound by Edward L. Bartle, failed to negotiate a curve, traveled off the right side of the road and struck a concrete driveway, then ran through a yard and struck a tree.
Bartle and two passengers, Aydin E. Bartle, 4, and Therasa S. Selph, 46, were taken to the University of Missouri-Columbia Hospital. Aydin Bartle was the only one wearing a safety device.
Edward Bartle was later arrested for DWI, felony vehicular assault and endangering the welfare of a child.
