Company to test feasibility of Missouri wind farm

WARSAW, Mo. (AP) -- A renewable energy company has reached an agreement with landowners to conduct wind testing at the site of a potential central Missouri wind farm.

Iberdrola Renewables spokesman Paul Copleman told The Sedalia Democrat that the company doesn't have a timeline in place to begin the testing. Farmers and property owners in Benton and Pettis Counties have signed onto the project.

Once one meteorolgocial tower is in place, data from that tower will be compiled for at least a year. If the results are favorable, additional towers would be added. Copleman says the testing could take several years.

The proposal started gaining support in February when dozens of farmers and property owners gathered to discuss a possible wind project.
