Lake water tests show none with high E. coli

Missouri environmental officials say water samples from the Lake of the Ozarks showed none with high E. coli bacteria.

The water testing is part of a five-year environmental study at the popular central Missouri tourist lake. Water samples were taken from 51 sites and tests showed relatively low bacteria levels. The tests were the final samples for this year. St. Louis utility AmerenUE is paying $15,000 per year for the environmental study.

The Department of Natural Resources announced the test results Wednesday. The samples were collected Tuesday.
