MAKING ROUNDS

Dr. Janet Elliot served as program chairwoman for the Central States Occupational and Environmental Medicine Association's annual conference, "Occupational Medicine and the Law," on Sept. 24-25 in Kansas City.

The annual conference is attended by occupational medicine physicians, physician assistants, nurse practitioners and occupational health nurses from the seven central states to discuss current issues in occupational medicine.

CSOEMA is one of the largest groups under the American College of Occupational and Environmental Medicine, the nation's largest medical society dedicated to promoting the health of workers through preventive medicine, clinical care, research and education.

Elliot has more than 25 years of occupational-medicine experience and is boardcertified in occupational medicine. She is also a certified medical review officer. Elliot is a fellow of the ACOEM and on the board of governors for CSOEMA.

Capital Region Medical Center welcomes Dr. Eston Schwartz and Dr. Raonak Ekram to the Goldschmidt Cancer Center.

Drs. Ekram and Schwartz served on the medical staff at St. Mary's Health Center in Jefferson City before moving to the medical staff of Lawrence Memorial Hospital in Lawrence, Kan.

Both physicians completed fellowships at Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, N.C., residencies and internships at University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center in Tulsa, Okla.

Graduates of University of Kansas School of Medicine in Kansas City, Kan., the doctors hold certifications in internal medicine and medical oncology by the American Board of Internal Medicine. They are members of the American Medical Association and the American Society of Clinical Oncology.
