Rockhurst edges Hazelwood Central for Class 6 championship

ST. LOUIS (AP) - Griffin Bins hit a 21-yard field goal late in the third quarter to lift Rockhurst to a 10-7 win over Hazelwood Central in the Class 6 championship game Saturday at the Edward Jones Dome.

Rockhurst (14-0) won its ninth title and moved into second place behind Jefferson City and Valle Catholic, who have 10 titles each.

Hazelwood Central (13-1), the two-time defending state champion, had a 19-game winning streak snapped.

Rockhurst was making its 14th appearance and last won the championship in 2007.

Rockhurst rallied from a 7-0 deficit on an 8-yard TD pass from Frank Arbanas to Nicholas Tyson midway through the third quarter.
