NEWARK, N.J. (AP) - Johan Hedberg made 30 saves for his 15th career shutout and the struggling New Jersey Devils stunned the NHL-leading Washington Capitals 5-0 on Monday night.
Jason Arnott scored twice and rookie Mattias Tedenby and Patrik Elias each had a goal and an assist for the Devils, who snapped a three-game losing streak.
Hedberg, playing in his 300th game, got the start as Martin Brodeur is expected to miss one to two weeks because of a bruised elbow.
Dainius Zubrus also scored for the Devils, who won for the second time at home (2-5-2).
The Capitals dropped their third straight, giving up 14 goals in that span.
Rangers 2, Flames 1
NEW YORK (AP) - Brian Boyle and Dan Girardi scored second-period goals and backup Martin Biron made 31 saves to lift the New York Rangers over slumping Calgary.
Flames captain Jarome Iginla stayed hot by scoring his sixth goal in three games - and 450th in the NHL - but it wasn't enough. Calgary lost for the ninth time in 11 games (2-8-1), including 0-1-1 on their five-game Eastern swing.
Miikka Kiprusoff started for the 10th straight game and made 22 saves.
Biron has made two consecutive starts - winning both - since he replaced No. 1 goalie Henrik Lundqvist in the second period of New York's 5-1 loss at Colorado on Friday.
The Rangers have won five of seven.
Flyers 3, Canadiens 2
PHILADELPHIA (AP) - James van Riemsdyk snapped a third-period tie with his first goal of the season and Philadelphia rallied to beat Montreal.
Claude Giroux and Ville Leino also scored for the Flyers, who trailed 2-0 after the first period. Philadelphia has won consecutive games after dropping the previous two. Brian Boucher made his second straight start in net after having not started since Oct. 25. He stopped 29 shots.
Maxim Lapierre scored twice for Montreal, which lost for the first time when leading after two periods. Carey Price made 42 saves.
Maple Leafs 4, Stars 1
TORONTO (AP) - Nikolai Kulemin scored two goals and Toronto beat Dallas. Kulemin has seven goals this season, tying him for second place on the Maple Leafs.
Tyler Bozak and Kris Versteeg had the other goals for the Maple Leafs (8-9-3), who got 21 saves from Jonas Gustavsson.
Brad Richards scored for Dallas (10-8-1).
Gustavsson continued his strong play in relief of Jean-Sebastien Giguere, who has missed three games because of a groin injury. The Leafs backup has stopped 87 of 91 shots during that stretch.
Blue Jackets 2, Predators 0
COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) - Steve Mason made 27 saves for his first shutout of the season and 16th of his career, Rick Nash scored a second-period goal, and Columbus earned its fourth straight win by topping Nashville.
Mike Commodore also scored for Columbus (13-6), off to the best start in franchise history and playing its first game since a record-setting road trip.
Nash was the NHL's first star of last week with six goals in Columbus' three-game sweep in California.
He tied the franchise record with points in nine straight games.
Senators 3, Kings 2
OTTAWA (AP) - Alex Kovalev earned his 1,000th career point when he scored on a power play midway through the first period and assisted on Jason Spezza's go-ahead goal in the third to send Ottawa past Los Angeles.
Kovalev became the 76th NHL player to reach the 1,000-point milestone with his sixth goal 10 minutes in. He joined Sergei Fedorov and Alexander Mogilny as the third Russian player to do it.
Spezza scored his sixth goal of the season to restore Ottawa's one-goal lead. Milan Michalek drew the Senators even at 2 with his fifth goal late in the second.
Pascal Leclaire made 28 saves in his first start since Nov. 11.
Anze Kopitar and Ryan Smyth scored for Los Angeles, which has lost four of five.
Smyth was denied the tying goal with 3 seconds remaining in the third. He deflected Jack Johnson's point shot past Leclaire, but referee Eric Furlatt immediately signaled no-goal. A lengthy video review upheld the call.
Jonathan Quick stopped 16 shots.
Lightning 3, Bruins 1
TAMPA, Fla. (AP) - Steven Stamkos got his NHL-leading 20th goal of the season to help Tampa Bay top Boston.
Stamkos, who has a point in 18 of 21 games, had one of Tampa Bay's three goals during the second period that made it 3-0. The center has 10 goals and 16 points over his past nine games.
Dana Tyrell and Teddy Purcell also scored for the Lightning, who have won four in a row.
Boston, which has lost two straight after a three-game winning streak, got a goal from Michael Ryder. The Bruins have dropped just two of nine road games this season (7-2).
Ryder ended Tampa Bay goalie Mike Smith's shutout bid with his 150th NHL goal at 10:30 of the third.
Stamkos has 20 goals in 21 games, the fastest a Lightning player has reached the mark.
Penguins 3, Panthers 2
SUNRISE, Fla. (AP) - Chris Conner scored his first goal of the season with 7:04 remaining in the third period to lift Pittsburgh over Florida.
Kris Letang and Sidney Crosby had power-play goals for the Penguins, who came into the game ranked 25th in the NHL with the man advantage.
Crosby, who also had an assist, extended his career-best point streak to nine games. He has at least two points in eight of his last 11 games.
Cory Stillman and Bryan McCabe scored for the Panthers (9-10), who missed a chance to get over the .500 mark for the first time this season.
Marc-Andre Fleury made 27 saves for Pittsburgh, which improved to 5-0-1 in its last six games.
Florida's Tomas Vokoun stopped 23 shots. The Panthers went 0 for 5 on the power play, making them 0 for 25 in the last six games.
