JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (AP) — Missouri House members have called hearings to scrutinize state spending.
A specially created House panel was to meet Monday afternoon to review state spending through Medicaid. The committee also planned to examine funding for the departments of mental health, social services, and health and senior services.
Republican Ryan Silvey, of Kansas City, was expected to lead the panel. Silvey is the incoming chairman of the House Budget Committee.

I can see it now, here come the beginning of more cuts to our states most vulnerable population...children, disabled (physically and mentally) and elderly. More Blunt trauma anyone? Save a few bucks now but at what cost to society down the road?

How about getting rid of special legislative sessions and the legislature only meeting every two years?
Put the legislature under the same health plan and retirement plans and rules as the state workers and limit raises and travel expenses to the same as state workers?
