Self-defense classes geared to women taking hold in Jefferson City

You can never be too prepared, and that is especially true of women who may find themselves alone, especially at night.

In the last two years, two different groups - Defend Yourself and Power Up - have established self-defense classes for women that are offered locally.

Sarah Fuehring said as she began going through self-defense programs and talking to women throughout the state, she was surprised how many felt they needed the self-defense tools. Even in Jefferson City, Defend Yourself co-founder Coleen Welter says there is a clear need.
