David Shaffer conducts the Jay Band as they rehearse his composition "New World Variations" on Friday morning at the high school. Forty-one members of the band will participate in the District Concert Festival today in Camdenton. Shaffer, who retired recently as the director of the Miami (Ohio) University marching band, will be the guest conductor at the festival.
