Cape Girardeau voters approve casino proposal
Wednesday, November 3, 2010
CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (AP) — Cape Girardeau voters took a gamble on a proposal to bring a casino to the southeast Missouri city.
Voters on Tuesday heavily supported a ballot measure to approve gambling in the city. The Southeast Missourian reports that the measure passed with 61 percent of the vote.
The vote does not ensure that a proposed $125 million casino will be built in Cape Girardeau. The Missouri Gaming Commission will choose between several sites for a new casino.
The commission is expected to choose between the Isle of Capri’s proposal for a Cape Girardeau proposal and casino proposals in St. Louis and in Sugar Creek near Kansas City.
Commissioners have said they also have the option of not awarding the state’s 13th casino license to any city.

This shows the people of Cape Girardeau are more open-minded and smarter than the people of the City of Jefferson.
