Candidates campaign on Twitter before polls close

WASHINGTON (AP) - After a final push of campaigning in person, several candidates took to Twitter on Tuesday evening, urging followers to get out and vote if they hadn't.

Colorado Democratic Sen. Michael Bennet told his followers to call five others.

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid of Nevada encouraged people to retweet, text, e-mail and instant message friends to find out if they voted.

In Missouri, Republican U.S. Rep. Roy Blunt reminded voters that they can still vote for him for Senate if they're in line before polls close.

Five-term Illinois Republican U.S. Rep. Mark Kirk was actively tweeting for his Senate campaign and also drawing a fair number of positive tweets from supporters.

And as some of the candidates won, they tweeted thanks to supporters.
