Tigers looking to extend their winning streak against Monarchs

Missouri is in for a tough test when the Tigers take on the Old Dominion Monarchs.

The Tigers are looking to extend their seven-game winning streak at 7 p.m. today (KOMU-TV) against the Monarchs who come into the contest riding a four-game winning streak, including a 63-54 win over Presbyterian last week.

The Monarchs (9-2) are receiving votes in the AP and USA Today/Coaches polls, while the Tigers (12-1) are ranked No. 10 in both polls.

Old Dominion has a 62-59 loss to Georgetown earlier in the season. The Tigers also fell to the Hoyas in a 111-102 overtime loss Nov. 30.

The Monarchs are led in scoring by guard Kent Bazemore, who's averaging 13.1 points per game to go along with 5.1 rebounds.

Old Dominion also will rely on its 6-foot-9 center Frank Hassell to key the offense. Hassell is nearly averaging a double-double with 12.4 points and 9.7 rebounds per contest.

Marcus Denmon leads Missouri in scoring with 17.2 point per game, while forwards Ricardo Ratliffe and Laurence Bowers are averaging more than 12 points per game.

Missouri has run its non-conference winning streak to 55 games with its 97-61 win over Northern Illinois on Monday.

The Tigers will play one more non-conference game Jan. 5 against North Alabama before opening Big 12 action Jan. 8 at Colorado.
