Jefferson City police release photos of credit union robber
Wednesday, December 22, 2010
Surveillance photos released by police show the robber in the credit union holdup in Jefferson City on Monday.
In making the photos available to news media on Tuesday, police Capt. Doug Shoemaker said there were no new leads in the case.
The robbery alarm was called in at approximately 4 p.m. Monday at Missouri Credit Union, located at 3200 W. Edgewood Drive.
Employees described the suspect as 5-feet-5 and wearing a black ski mask, black pants, black gloves, and a red hooded ‘hoodie’-type of sweatshirt. Shoemaker said Tuesday the suspect is believed to be "a light-skinned black male or female." The ski mask concealed the gender of the suspect.
Witnesses said the suspect came into the business, yelled for everybody to get down on the floor and then demanded money from the tellers. After getting an undisclosed amount of money, the suspect, who did not display a weapon, left the scene through the front door and into a silver Dodge Stratus or similar type of vehicle.
Anyone with information should contact Jefferson City police at (573) 634-6400 or anonymously through CrimeStoppers at 659-TIPS.

They want the public to help.. They don't even know if it is a man or a woman! What happened to the policy about hats and all that in banks?

what happened to the policy about not robbing banks and all that? i don't think this person had any intention of following rules when they stepped into this bank.

You're right, Rick. They should have pointed out the no hat rule while this person was robbing them. :-P

That must have been a long thick ski-mask to be able to conceal the gender of the person!

If the robber was a woman, she might have been flat chested, baby!

What I meant was,,I have been told to take my sunglasses off before at a bank. Then shown the sign. I guess that has gone bye-bye! I can see that it is a black person,,maybe they were afraid to say anything to them. No racial but it wasn't all that cold to be totally covered. So who dropped the ball? Following the rules was a real funny comment,,like you drive under the speed limit!

Rick I don't think this person asked to open an account before deciding to rob the place, or chatted with the security guard. The walked in, screamed EVERYBODY DOWN! and did what they did. Who did you want to tell them to take off their hat, and when did you want them to do it? I can see it now. "You're not getting any money until you take off that hat, robber person!"

Rick, I wear a ballcap all the time at my bank, but take my sunglasses off as I enter. I guess it helps they know me by name. I also carry a pistol in there as well. You can never be too sure when "the time" will come.

Wow, it must feel awesome to be such an amazing person. So fearless and heroic as you walk down those dangerous streets and back alleys in those oh so dangerous neighborhoods. And to do so without a pistol, armed only with your wit, determination, and calm demeanor? Well, gee, I mean, I just wish I could be more like you. Us sad, scared people who carry guns to protect ourselves could really benefit from your divine wisdom, oh great treehouse.

You never know when "The Time" will come. I bet that school board guy in Fla wished he had one when the guy came in with one. Maybe treehouse feels safe, good for him. I'll go to his visitation after 'that time' comes.

Don't most banks and credit unions have signs at the door that state no weapons allowed?

I remove my sunglasses and hat whenever I enter a building. That was how I was raised.

Should the entrance of a unidentifiable person, by ski mask or other means, cause an instant silent alarm to be made?
Clearly, this person made a very easy withdrawal. I would expect this "success" to make them try the same elsewhere where they may not be so lucky next time. In fact, I would wager that they are probably reading our comments and the paper to gauge their odds of being caught.

They read??I would not bet alot on that one!!
