Portland Community Center moves closer to construction

PORTLAND, Mo. — Fundraising efforts for building the new Portland Community Center got a boost Wednesday when Ameren Missouri donated $1,000 toward its construction.

Since Aug. 15 when the previous center burned down due to an electrical fire, members of the center’s fundraising committee have been trying to raise the needed $60,000 to build a new community building.

Anyone wishing to donate to the construction of a new center can send money to Portland Community Center, P.O. Box 118, Portland, Mo. 65067.
