Official: St. Louis' dome in no collapse danger

ST. LOUIS (AP) - The collapse of the roof at the Metrodome in Minneapolis provided scary images on television. But a similar collapse in St. Louis is being called unlikely.

Brian McMurtry is executive director of the St. Louis Regional Convention and Sports Complex Authority, which owns the Edward Jones Dome, home of the Rams. He told the St. Louis Post-Dispatch that while the Minnesota roof is made of a pliable fabric held up with air and heaters, the St. Louis dome is made of a hard plastic material held up by steel supports.

The Edward Jones Dome also has a sloped roof so that when snow melts it slides down.

The Metrodome roof collapsed early Sunday, forcing the NFL to move the Giants-Vikings game to Monday night in Detroit.
