Don't ask don't tell repeal halted?

What next for "don't ask, don't tell"? A Senate vote all but kills chances of repealing the ban on gays serving openly in the military for this year. And repeal seems doubtful next year, too - when Republicans take control of the House. Gay rights groups say they'll now press the White House to drop its challenge of a California federal court that ruled that the ban unconstitutional.
