Missouri coach gets probation for sex with student

O'FALLON, Mo. (AP) - A former assistant football coach at a St. Louis-area high school has been sentenced to five years of probation for having sex last year with a 16-year-old student.

Reginald Hicks Jr. pleaded guilty Friday to nine counts of statutory sodomy and two counts of statutory rape he committed while working as a coach and hall monitor at Fort Zumwalt West High School in O'Fallon.

The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports that the 24-year-old is no longer employed by the school district, and the girl no longer attends school there.

Officials say Hicks can be sentenced to seven years in prison if he violates terms of probation under the plea bargain. He also will have a felony conviction and will be required to register as a sex offender.
