you have to give these board members credit about learning some things from the past mistakes of others.
A 2/3 majority used to be required to raise school taxes. The vote to change that only required a simple majority.
The council raised taxes for an ambulance service that the voters turned down. That didn't stop them from keeping the moey and spending it on something else.
This board has chosen to;
Spend money on land for "their" plan before funding was secured for development.
Sell existing facilities to eliminate the 2 HS option.
Allow no discussion or input unless it supports "their" plan.
This board is excited about spending ONE HUNDRED MILLION DOLARS of our tax money. It is incomprehensible to me that people can not think taxpayers should have no say in the direction of the education of our children.
MR. CLAYTON, I don't know Dan, but I do know Rod. One thing I know without question is the integrity and high moral standards of Rod Burnett He served 20 years as a Marine. It is not neccesary to make personal attacks on an individual who has sacrificed so much.
AND according to you quoting your experts "high schools of 300-800 are the ideal size, while Jeff City is closing in on the 3,000 range.
Has the question been asked if an initiative petition can be put on a ballot to resolve the one or two high school issue?
I know one thing, this school board is full steam ahead and it will take a court order to stop.
Unfortunate that anti-casino "foces", all the scared people, local churches, and the fat wallet of zealots disappointed some of you. They must have thought that they had the right to vote their conscience.
Do not speak evil against one another, brothers. ....who are you to judge your neighbor?
We have brothers and sisters born with physical traits of both genders.
"Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother's eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye?
This is a permanent long term decision having profound impact on the youth of our community. The school board has decided (through questionable procedures) to limit the number of students that can participate in school sports. We have a perfectly good High School and we should be adding another. What surprises me is the apathy of the public in general. It shouldn't though, because the pressure from the affluent in this area has proven to have the same effect as a very effective shock collar. That is why you will never see this issue on a ballot.
How will the majority of Cole County tax payers benefit from this donation? It is clear that elected officials have chosen to serve few with the money of many.

$100,000 to an out of town airport would have remedied this.
