Mrs. Gladys Graves, 95, passed away on February 2, 2024, in Springfield, Missouri.
Gladys was born in Salford, England on May 3, 1928, to James and Gertude Morrow. Gladys moved to the United States in May of 1970, with her two sons Mark and Gary Highton.
Gladys loved to knit and won many awards for her work at county and state fairs. She baked cakes for birthdays and weddings and had the best meat pie ever.
She married Roy Neal Graves, former Chief of Police in Republic, Missouri, on October 24, 1980. They moved to Jefferson City, Missouri, in January 1987.
Gladys worked as a nanny and was a waitress for many years at Ryan’s Steakhouse. After her husband’s passing in 2015, she moved to Springfield, Missouri, to be closer to her son.
She is survived by her two sons, Mark, Gary (Barbara) Highton; grandson, Mark Anthony Highton (Jessika); great-granddaughter, Adyson Kimery-Highton; great-grandson, Major Lee Highton; and Gary’s stepsons, Craig and Grant (Nanette) and his children Emalye and Adrielle.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Roy Neal Graves.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
Memorial donations may be made in Glady’s name to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
