Rebecca Ruth Hartness Ferrell, known as Becky Ruth by family and friends, passed away Thursday September 14, 2023, at her residence at the age of 78.
She was born August 25, 1945, in Columbus to the late Homer Billups and Nellie Ruth Ellis Hartness.
She graduated with a BS Degree in Education. She taught Business Education to High School students for several years. She was a pig farmer, then she sold seed for Mississippi Farmers Association before retirement. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church.
She is survived by her husband, Kenneth Cecil Ferrell of West Point, her sons, Cecil Hartness Ferrell (Shanna) of West Point, Benjamin Colin Ferrell (Adrienne) of Mo.; daughter, Kendra Ferrell Goff (Marty) of Fla.; brothers, Clark Hartness of Starkville, Wayne Hartness of Ala.; sister, Barbara Dennehey (Pat) of Va.; son-in-law, Thomas Allen of West Point; eight grandchildren, Tim Ferrell, Logan Goff, Loranna Goff, Hartleigh Jo Ferrell, Riley Creed Ferrell, Charleigh Ferrell, Adalyn Ferrell, Teague Ferrell; and two great-grandchildren, Ashleigh, Paxton Ferrell.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and her daughter, Katherine Dawn Allen.
Funeral Services were held at 5 p.m., Monday September 18, 2023, at First Presbyterian Church, West Point, Miss. with Rev. Brandon Bates officiating. Interment services followed at Odd Fellows Cemetery in Starkville, Miss. Serving as Pallbearers were Cecil Ferrell, Ben Ferrell, Tim Ferrell, Thomas Allen, Marty Goff, Clark Hartness. Honorary Pallbearers are Richard Keith Ferrell, Ronald Curt Ferrell. Visitation was from 4-5 p.m., Monday at the church.
